The Strain Sensitivity of Coal Reinforced Smart Concrete by Piezoresistive Effect

The structures are challenged by earthquakes, material degradations and other environmental factors. In order to protect the lives, assets, for maintenance planning, structural health monitoring (SHM) is important. SHM applications, strain gages widely used which have low durability, sensitivity while they high cost. To monitor a structure, large number of be that increases this study, seven coal reinforced concrete mixtures with 0, 0.35, 0.5, 0.8, 1, 1.5 2 volume % were designed; three cubic samples each mixture fabricated. Simultaneous electrical resistance measurement during compression test was conducted. A strong linear piezoresistive relationship between change correlation coefficient 0.99 determined. having 0.8 had highest K=44, 22 times commercial metal it linearity error LE=6.9% low. This candidate smart can sense its strain. As contribution literature, phenomenological model gage factor explained in details. multifunctional will as material, applications acting load bearing material.
